Two Twelve's profile

Yale University - Wayfinding

While undertaking an ambitious Framework Plan for Yale University, Cooper, Robertson & Partners selected Two Twelve to assess the University’s wayfinding and signage needs. For the plan, we proposed a campus signage family and created design and placement standards for that. Continuing on form our planning work, Two Twelve collaborated with the university's Facilities and Printing Office staff to develop customized porcelain enamel building signage, using Yale blue for primary identification signs and a soft grey for secondary messages.
The simple, elegant porcelain enamel signs feature a unique typeface designed exclusively for Yale by renowned type designer Matthew Carter. The signs bring visual consistency to a campus famed for its diverse architecture.
Finally, Two Twelve and Reineck & Reineck Design redesigned the campus map, strategically positioning Yale’s facilities within the city, reinforcing the connection between "town and gown".
